Training your dog is an important part of dog ownership. Unless you get a mature dog, you will need to potty train your puppy if you don't want accidents in the house. Probably even more important is to teach your dog that you are his master, and he must obey you.
Do not respond to demands for attention from your dog. Training a dog to be docile and controlled, means that you control when attention is given. In the pack, Alphas will ignore these behaviors until the dog is calm and relaxed. Then and only then, should you build excitement through play with the animal.

If your dog gets anxious every time he sees you getting ready to leave the house, break up your routine a little bit. Leaving for varying amounts of time will also help break up the cycle. Leave for a few minutes one time and a little longer at other times. Eventually, your dog will get used to the idea that you may leave occasionally, and nothing bad will happen to him!
A good dog training tip is to be consistent with the words you use when you communicate with your dog. English is a foreign language to dogs and they're constantly trying to decipher what you're saying. By being consistent with your words, your dog will be more likely to learn.
Spend time training your dog in a variety of locations and with different distractions. Once Fido sits reliably at home without distractions, teach him to sit outside, at the dog park, and in places with lots of people. This helps your dog obey commands reliably in any situation regardless of distractions.
